Day 12

Weigh in: 156.2 lbs.
No problem falling asleep last night ~9:30. Nigel woke me up at 4:00. I spent 2 hours trying to get him back to sleep. Would have been able to fall asleep again if I didn't have to go to work. Basil temp 97.0.

Day 11

Weigh in 156.0 lbs
Went to bed at 9:30 and had no trouble falling asleep. My son woke me up at 1:00 and the insomnia struck. I was up for 2 hours at which point my son woke up again. I am going to have to think try something new. I usually stop drinking milk around 7:30. That gives me enough time to flush some fluids out before going to bed. I noticed my stomach turning when I was up in the middle of the night. I am thinking that if I have a raw egg or two with my last glass of milk, my blood sugar might not drop as much during the night. I'll have to give it a shot and see how it turns out. Woke up at 7:00 so I didn't bother with the basil temp reading. Late afternoon brought my first case of diarehia since starting the diet. I am sure that is some detoxing that my body is going through. I read before that day 7 and day 10 are when the major detoxing takes place. Looks like day 7 and 11 for me.

Day 10

Weigh in: 156.2 lbs
My wife made me realize that I have to learn how to fall asleep. Before getting ill I only slept 6 hours a night and was quite acitve (to say the least). As far back as I can remember I would be out as soon as I hit the sheets. Still, the 9:45 bed time must be a bit too early for me to fall asleep. Must have been half an hour or so before I was out. I had to use some relaxation techniques to fall asleep. My son woke me up around 11:00 and again at 3:00. Woke up at 5:45. basil temp 97.2. Noted some pain in my right ankle. That is the one that I've sprained 4 times and made me give up soccer. The pain was a result of increased pressure. That is probably a good thing. Don't think I will be on the diet long enough to completely restore the tissue, but it is a start.

Day 9

Weigh in: 156.6 lbs.
My son kept waking me up through the night. He is resisting my attempts to put him to bed. Despite being up with him for an hour and having to get up in the middle of the night to help get our cat out from behind the washing machine, I still woke up bright eyed at 5:30 (went to bed at 10:00). Basil temp down to 97.0. This is worrysome. Blood pressure is up around 117/80. Have some brain fog - trouble recalling technical terms or company names (typically happens when I am sleeping poorly), yet energy level is up. Have a feeling that my sleep disturbances are due to hormonal changes that my body is going to and there are going to be some bumps in the road along the way.

Day 8

Skipped the eggs today. That was probably a mistake. Didn't have any bowel movements today. Basil temp down to 97.2. My hand are finally starting to feel warm despite the low waking temp. I suppose that means my circulation is improving. Need to find a way to improve sleep. I am actually feeling more energetic, but the diet calls for rest so I am consiously not doing much.

Day 7

Weigh in 157.4 lbs
Decided to increase my egg consumption from 2 to 4. I don't know that I was getting enough callories. I don't know if that had anything to do with my afternoon discomfort. Felt my intestines turning from 3PM to 10PM and had 4 bowl movements during that time. That may have been my body being flushed of toxins. My sleep is still inconsistant. Had trouble falling asleep and woke up several times. Basil temp down to 97.4.

Day 6

Weigh in: 157.2 lbs.
Couldn't sleep last night. The heat had something to do with it, but I had that insomnia feeling (the one that feels like I just had two shots of espresso) from the moment I layed down. This is the first time in 4 years that I haven't fallen asleep within 5 minutes of hitting the sheets. During my illness I have never had trouble falling asleep, just trouble staying asleep. That 40 minute nap at 5:00 PM may have been too late. The funny thing is that a late nap has never had any influence on my ability to fall asleep. Didn't feel like I was taking in enough milk yesterday so I may up that a bit today. vitals: waking (basil) temp reading at 6:15 AM - 97.6 degrees. When I started this diet, my basil temp was 96.8. My target is betweein 97.8-98.3. I need to be able to reach those marks after I am off the diet.
